Matthew 23:37-39 - The Lament Over Jerusalem
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a bird gathereth her young under her wings; and ye would not! 38 Behold your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say to you, ye shall not see me from this time, till ye say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
31 The same day came certain of the Pharisees, saying to him, Go out and depart from hence; for Herod is minded to kill thee.
32 And he said to them, Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow; and the third day I am perfected. 33 But I must go on to day, and to morrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together as a bird gathereth her brood under her wings, and ye would not! 35 Behold your house is left to you desolate; and verily I say to you, Ye shall not see me, till the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
