John 13:12-20 - The Meaning Of Footwashing

¹² When, therefore, he had washed their feet, and taken his clothes and sat down again, he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord; and you say well, for I am. ¹⁴ If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done.

¹⁶ I tell you most truly, the servant is not greater than his lord, nor the apostle greater than he that sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. ¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁹ I tell you from this time, before it occurs, that when it occurs you may believe that I am [the Christ]. ²⁰ I tell you most truly, He that receives one that I send receives me; and he that receives me receives him that sent me.
