1 John 2:7-14 - The New Commandment

7 Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word that you heard. 8 Then again, I do write a new commandment to you. This is true in him and in you. The darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.

9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness! 10 He who loves his brother lives in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling (offence) in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he goes because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12 I write to you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name. 13 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father. 14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
