Matthew 13:1-9 - The Parable Of The Sower
1 On that day Jesus went out of the house [and] was sitting by the sea. 2 And large crowds gathered close around him, so that he got into a boat to sit down, and all the crowd was standing on the shore.
3 And he spoke many [things] to them in parables, saying, "Behold, the sower went out to sow, 4 and while he was sowing, {some seed} fell on the side of the path, and the birds came [and] devoured it. 5 And other [seed] fell on the rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up at once because it did not have [any] depth of soil. 6 But [when] the sun rose it was scorched, and because it did not have [enough] root, it withered. 7 And other [seed] fell among the thorn plants, and the thorn plants came up and choked it. 8 But other [seed] fell on the good soil and produced grain, this one a hundred [times as much] and this one sixty and this one thirty. 9 The one who has ears, let him hear!"
1 And again he began to teach beside the sea, and a very large crowd was gathered to him, so that he got into a boat [and] sat on the sea, and the whole crowd was at the sea on the land. 2 And he began to teach them many [things] in parables, and was saying to them in his teaching, 3 "Listen! Behold, the sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened that while [he] was sowing, {some seed} fell on the side of the path, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 And other [seed] fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up at once, because it did not have [any] depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it did not have [enough] root, it withered. 7 And other [seed] fell among the thorn plants, and the thorn plants came up and choked it, and it did not produce grain. 8 And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and produced grain, coming up and increasing, and it bore [a crop]--one thirty and one sixty and one a hundred [times as much]. 9 And he said, "Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear!"
4 And [while] a large crowd was gathering and [they] were going to him from town [after town], he spoke by means of a parable: 5 "The sower went out to sow his seed, and while he was sowing, {some seed} fell on the side of the path and was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it. 6 And other [seed] fell on the rock, and [when it] came up, it withered, because it did not have moisture. 7 And other [seed] fell in the midst of the thorn plants, and the thorn plants grew up with [it] [and] choked it. 8 And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and [when it] came up, it produced a hundred times as much grain." [As he] said these [things], he called out, "The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
