Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

¹³ And he went up into the mountain, and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him. ¹⁴ And he appointed twelve, designating them apostles, and that he might send them out to preach, ¹⁵ and to have authority to cast out demons.

¹⁶ And he appointed the Twelve. And to Simon he gave the name Peter; ¹⁷ and James the son of Zebedee; and John the brother of James (and he surnamed them Boanerges which means, Sons of Thunder); ¹⁸ and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot; ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¹² It happened in these days, that he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ When it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

¹⁴ Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James; John; Philip; Bartholomew; ¹⁵ Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Simon, who was called the Zealot; ¹⁶ Judas the son of James; and Judas Iscariot, who also became a traitor.
