The supposed time of the visit of the angel Gabriel to Mary when he announced God's purpose of grace towards her. It was in 'the sixth month,' which, by comparing with Lu 1:36, appears to date from his visit to Zacharias. Lu 1:26-38. It was superstitiously made one of the festivals of the professing church, and falls on March 25, also called Lady-day.

Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the son of God. And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age.
