A town of Simeon (1Ch 4:33), identical with BAALATH BEER (Jos 19:8), i.e. "Baal of the well", "holy well". Also called RAMATH (NEGEB, "the heights (Ramath) of the S." (Negeb), a parched region (Jos 19:8).
