The notice which invests the figure of Enoch with its peculiar significance is found in Ge 5:24 'Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.' The idea here suggested
And Enoch went on in God's ways: and he was not seen again, for God took him.
But God will get back my soul; for he will take me from the power of death. (Selah.)
Your wisdom will be my guide, and later you will put me in a place of honour.
By faith Enoch was taken up to heaven so that he did not see death; he was seen no longer, for God took him away: for before he was taken, witness had been given that he was well-pleasing to God:
