The only occurrence of this Eng. word in the OT is Pr 7:19 'the goodman is not at home.' The Heb. is simply 'the man'; but as the reference is to the woman's husband, 'goodman,' still used in Scotland for 'husband,' was in 1611 an accurate rendering.
