This people honors me with the lips, but their heart is far from me.

And he said to them, Well did Isaiah prophecy of you, hypocrites, as it is written; This people honors me with the lips, but their heart is far from me;

their throat is an opened tomb, with their tongues they practise deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips.

For it is written in the law, With other tongues, and with other lips will I speak to this people, and so they shall not understand me, says the Lord.

Through him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, the fruit of lips confessing his name.
