Broken pieces of earthenware, Job 2:8; Isa 30:14, fit types of the worthlessness and fragility of man, Ps 22:15; Pr 26:23; Isa 45:9. The ruins of many of he most ancient cities in the world show little but such fragments of pottery covering the ground; it is usually coarse in grain, but well glazed. Such fragments are used by the poor in various ways, if not utterly broken in to bits, Isa 30:14.
