(1.) Heb miphtan, probably a projecting beam at a higher point than the threshold proper (1Sa 5:4-5; Eze 9:3; 10:4,18; 46:2; 47:1); also rendered "door" and "door-post."
(2.) 'Asuppim, pl. (Ne 12:25), rendered correctly "storehouses" in the Revised Version. In 1Ch 26:15,17 the Authorized Version retains the word as a proper name, while in the Revised Version it is translated "storehouses."

But the next morning they saw that Dagon had again fallen forward on the ground in front of Jehovah's Ark. Dagon's head and his two hands were cut off and were lying on the temple's threshold. The rest of Dagon's body was intact. That is why the priests of Dagon and everyone else who enters Dagon's temple in Ashdod do not step on the temple's threshold, even to this day.
The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.

The prince must enter from the outside through the entrance hall of the gateway. He must stand by the doorposts of the gateway. Then the priests must prepare the prince's burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He must worship at the entrance of the gateway and then leave. The gate must not be closed until evening.
The man took me back to the door of the Temple. I saw water flowing from under the entrance of the Temple toward the east. The Temple faced east. The water was flowing under the south side of the Temple, south of the altar.
