I have heard the gossip of many;
terror is on every side.
When they conspired against me,
they plotted to take my life.

And when one comes to see me, he speaks empty words,
While his heart gathers malicious gossip [against me];
When he goes away, he tells it [everywhere].

When I dressed in sackcloth, I became an object of gossip among them.

Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs.

For they have persecuted him whom You have struck,
And they tell of the pain of those whom You have pierced and wounded.

Though nobles take their seat and gossip about me, your servant will meditate on your statutes.
