Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishvi, and Malchishua. And the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the first-born Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.

And Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David, and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

And Saul saw and knew that LORD was with David, and Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him.

And Saul sent messengers to David's house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, If thou save not thy life tonight, tomorrow thou will be slain.

So Michal let David down through the window, and he went, and fled, and escaped.

And Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' [hair] at the head of it, and covered it with the clothes.

And Saul said to Michal, Why have thou deceived me thus, and let my enemy go, so that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said to me, Let me go. Why should I kill thee?

Now Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.
