When vintage-time approached, he sent his servants to the vine-dressers to receive his share of the grapes;

but the vine-dressers seized the servants, and one they cruelly beat, one they killed, one they pelted with stones.

"But the vine-dressers, when they saw the son, said to one another, "'Here is the heir: come, let us kill him and get his inheritance.'

And they took him and, driving him out of the vine-garden, put him to death.

"He will put the wretches to a wretched death," was the reply, "and will entrust the vineyard to other vine-dressers who will render the produce to him at the vintage season."

But they made fun of it, and went on about their business, one to his farm, another to his store.

wo unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like whited sepulchres, which to outward appearance are fine. but within are full of dead mens bones, and all sort of filth.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

Then some of the scribes replied, "Teacher, you have given a fine answer."

Some having said of the temple, that the stone-work was fine, and the furniture magnificent:

Then the men who were holding Jesus in custody began to make fun of him while they beat him.

Even Herod and his soldiers treated him with contempt and made fun of him. He put a magnificent robe on Jesus and sent him back to Pilate.

The soldiers also made fun of Jesus by coming up and offering him sour wine,
