Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; Obed begat Jesse;

Jesse begat David the king: David the king begat Solomon of her that was the wife of Uriah:

which was the son of Jesse: which was the son of Obed: which was the son of Boaz: which was the son of Salmon: which was the son of

And after he had put him down, he set up David to be their king: of whom he gave reported, saying, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, he shall fulfill all my will.'

And in another place Isaiah saith, "There shall be the root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the gentiles: in him shall the gentiles trust."
