Machir fathered Gilead;
the Gileadite clan from Gilead.

Jair the Gileadite rose up after him; he led Israel for twenty-two years.

Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a brave warrior. His mother was a prostitute, but Gilead was his father.

Every year Israelite women commemorate the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite for four days.

Jephthah judged Israel for six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
