Then the woman left her bucket, and went to the city, and said to the men, Come and see a man who has told me all things which I have done; is this the Christ? They came out from the city and came to him. read more.
In the meantime the disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, eat. But he said to them, I have food to eat which you know not of. Then the disciples said one to another, Has any one brought him food to eat? Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Do you not say, There are yet four months, and the harvest comes? behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and see the fields; for they are white for a harvest. Already he that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit for life eternal, that he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. For in this is the saying true; He that sows is one, and he that reaps is another. I have sent you to reap that on which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor. And many of the Samaritans in that city believed on him, on account of the word of the woman, testifying, He told me all things which I have done. When, therefore, the Samaritans came to him, they desired him to remain with them; and he remained there two days. And already also the axe lies at the root of the trees; every tree therefore which bears not good fruit, is cut down and cast into the fire. And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then shall we do? And he answered and said to them, Let him that has two coats give to him that has none; and let him that has food do the same. And publicans, also, came to be baptized, and said to him, Teacher, what shall we do? And he said to them, Do nothing more than is appointed for you. And the soldiers asked him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Oppress, and falsely accuse, no one; and be contented with your wages.
