And all that night Abner and his men went through the Arabah; they went over Jordan and through all Bithron and came to Mahanaim.

And the Gileadites took the crossing-places of Jordan against the Ephraimites; and when any of the men of Ephraim who had gone in flight said, let me go over; the men of Gilead said to him, Are you an Ephraimite? So the men went after them on the road to Jordan as far as the river-crossing: and when they had gone out after them, the door into the town was shut.

So David and all the people who were with him went up over Jordan: when dawn came, every one of them had gone over Jordan.
