The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; in between them were the virgins playing with timbrels.

And the king made of the brazil wood stairs to the house of the LORD and to the king's palace and harps and psalteries for the singers, and such wood had never been seen before in the land of Judah.

They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

Blow ye the shofar in Gibeah and the trumpet in Ramah; sound the drum in Bethaven; after thee, O Benjamin.

Asaph, the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps, but Asaph resounded with cymbals;

Moreover David and the captains of the host separated unto the ministry the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals; and the number of men that were suitable for the work of their respective ministry was,

Awake, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp; I myself will arise early.

I will also praise thee with an instrument of the psaltery, O my God; unto thee will I sing thy truth with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the psaltery, upon the harp with a pleasant sound.


I will sing a new song unto thee, O God; upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises unto thee.

All these were the sons of Heman, the king's seer, in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. All these were under the direction of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the ministry of the house of God, under the hand of the king, of Asaph, of Jeduthun, and of Heman.

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with sound of the shofar and with trumpets and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the shofar.


moreover, four thousand were porters, and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which David had made to praise therewith.

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; in between them were the virgins playing with timbrels.
