One of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals."

And just then a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and started shouting, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David. My daughter is severely demonized."

And all the crowds were amazed, and said, "Can this be the son of David?"

The crowds who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, "Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest."

Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he shouted all the louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

Jesus responded, as he taught in the temple, "How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David?

Hasn't the Scripture said that the Messiah comes of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

with whom the LORD had made a covenant, and commanded them, saying, "You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them; but you shall fear the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him. You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you; neither shall you fear other gods.
