Acts 3:1 (show verse)

Peter and John were on their way up to the temple for the hour of prayer at three in the afternoon,

Acts 3:2 (show verse)

when a man lame from birth was carried past, who used to be laid every day at what was called the 'Beautiful Gate' of the temple, to ask alms from those who entered the temple.

Acts 3:3 (show verse)

When he noticed that Peter and John meant to go into the temple, he asked them for alms.

Acts 3:4 (show verse)

Peter looked at him steadily, as did John, and said, "Look at us."

Acts 3:5 (show verse)

The man attended, expecting to get something from them.

Acts 3:6 (show verse)

But Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but I will give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, [get up and] walk!"

Acts 3:7 (show verse)

And catching him by the right hand he raised him. Instantly his feet and ankles grew strong,

Acts 3:8 (show verse)

he leapt to his feet, started to walk, and accompanied them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God.

Acts 3:9 (show verse)

When all the people saw him walking and praising God,

Acts 3:10 (show verse)

and when they recognized this was the very man who used to sit and beg at the Gate Beautiful, they were lost in awe and amazement at what had happened to him.

As he clung to Peter and John, all the people rushed awestruck to them in what was called Solomon's portico.

Acts 3:12 (show verse)

But when Peter saw this, he said to the people, "Men of Israel, why are you surprised at this? Why do you stare at us, as if we had made him walk by any power or piety of ours?

Acts 3:13 (show verse)

The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers has glorified Jesus his servant, whom you delivered up and repudiated before Pilate. Pilate had decided to release him,

but you repudiated the Holy and Just One; the boon you asked was a murderer,

Acts 3:15 (show verse)

and you killed the pioneer of Life. But God raised him from the dead, as we can bear witness.

Acts 3:16 (show verse)

(He it is who has given strength to this man whom you see and know, by faith in His name; it is the faith He inspires which has made the man thus hale and whole before you all.)

Acts 3:17 (show verse)

Now I know, brothers, that you acted in ignorance, like your rulers ??18 though this was how God fulfilled what he had announced beforehand by the lips of all the prophets, namely the sufferings of his Christ.

Acts 3:19 (show verse)

Repent then, and turn to have your sins blotted out, so that a breathing-space may be vouchsafed you,

Acts 3:20 (show verse)

and that the Lord may send Jesus your long-decreed Christ,

Acts 3:21 (show verse)

who must be kept in heaven till the period of the great Restoration. Ages ago God spoke of this by the lips of his holy prophets;

Acts 3:22 (show verse)

for Moses said, The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brotherhood, as he raised me: you must listen to whatever he may tell you.

Acts 3:23 (show verse)

Any soul that will not listen to this prophet shall be exterminated from the People;

Acts 3:24 (show verse)

and all the prophets who have spoken since Samuel and his successors have also announced these days.

Acts 3:25 (show verse)

Now you are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers when he said to Abraham, all families on earth shall be blessed in your offspring.

Acts 3:26 (show verse)

It was for you first that God raised up his Servant, and sent him to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
