We ought therefore to attend the more to the things which we heard, lest at any time we should glide away [from them]. For if the word spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape who have neglected so great a salvation? which began to be spoken by the Lord, and was affirmed to us by those who heard,
See that you refuse not him that speaks; for if they did not escape who refused him that gave answers on earth, much more shall we [not escape] who turn ourselves away from him in heaven;
