Christ (Messiah) the Lord, a Savior, is born this day in the city of David. This is the sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger. Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest. Peace on earth among men with whom he is pleased. The angels went away from them into heaven. Then the shepherds said to one another, Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which God told us about. They hurried to see the baby. They found Mary and Joseph. And they saw the baby lying in the manger. As soon as they saw it they told what they had heard about the child. All that heard it wondered at the things that were spoken to them by the shepherds. Mary remembered all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen.
