It is a stone that people stumble over, and a large rock that people find offensive. They stumble because they are disobedient to the word. To this end they were appointed.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw (discerned) Jehovah seated on a throne, high and exalted. The train of his robe filled the Temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. They called to one another: Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of Hosts. All the earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah said these things because he saw and spoke about his glory.
Remember that Jehovah of Hosts is holy. He is the one you should respect. He is the one you should reverence (venerate) (exalt). He will be a place of safety for you. But he will be a rock that makes people trip and a stumbling block for both kingdoms of Israel. He will be a trap and a snare for those who live in Jerusalem.

They called to one another: Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of Hosts. All the earth is full of his glory.
So they left, disagreeing among themselves, after Paul had said this one thing: How well the Holy Spirit spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your ancestors!
I heard the voice of Jehovah. He said: Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said: Here I am. Send me! He said: Go and tell this people: 'Hear constantly but do not understand. See constantly but do not perceive.' This people's heart has become calloused. They hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.(Septuagint)
