And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die; and he hearing of Jesus, sent to him the elders of the Jews, asking him to come and cure his servant. for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue. And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying, Lord, trouble not yourself, for I am not fit that you should come under my roof.
