When Pilate saw that he gained nothing, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, and said: I am innocent of the blood of this just man; you will see to it. Every one that makes himself a king, speaks against Caesar Then Pilate, when he heard that word, led Jesus out, and sat on the judgment-seat, in a place called the Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha; it was the preparation for the passover, and about the third hour; and he said to the Jews, Behold your king!
