Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him a question, and he said to them, "Are you asking one another about my saying 'In a little while you will not see me any longer, and a little while after, you will see me again'? I tell you, you will weep and wail while the world will be happy; you will grieve, but your grief will change to happiness. When a woman is in labor she is sorrowful, for her time has come; but when the child is born, she forgets her pain in her joy that a human being has been brought into the world. read more.
So you, too, are sorrowful now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will be happy, and no one will rob you of your happiness. When that time comes, you will not ask me any questions; I tell you, whatever you ask the Father for, he will give you as my followers. Hitherto you have not asked for anything as my followers, but now ask, and you will receive, so that your happiness may be complete. "I have said all this to you in figurative language, but a time is coming when I shall not do so any longer, but will tell you plainly about the Father. When that time comes you will ask as my followers, and I do not promise to intercede with the Father for you, for the Father loves you himself because you love me and believe that I have come from the Father.
