Machir » One of the sons of manasseh » The land of gilead allotted to
Half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
The descendants of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead. They captured it and forced out the Amorites who were there. So Moses gave Gilead to the people of Machir the descendants of Manasseh, and they lived there.

So Moses gave the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and half of the tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph, the kingdoms of King Sihon of the Amorites and King Og of Bashan. It was the whole land with its cities and its surrounding territory.
