The Israelites moved and set up camp across from Jericho. They were on the plains of Moab east of the Jordan River.
These are the countries that Moses distributed for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
East of the Jordan, on the desert plateau east of Jericho, they chose Bezer in the territory of Reuben; Ramoth in Gilead, in the territory of Gad; and Golan in Bashan, in the territory of Manasseh.

Jesus crossed the Jordan River when he went to the province of Judea. Crowds gathered all around him just as they always did.
These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
They went to John and said: Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, the one about whom you witnessed, he and the men with him baptize.
