Canaanites » To be destroyed
My messenger will go ahead of you. I will lead you to the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites. I will wipe them out. Do not worship or serve their gods or follow their practices. You must destroy their gods and crush their sacred stones.
When Jehovah your God destroys all the nations that are living in the land that he gives you. you will force them out and live in their cities and houses.
Jehovah your God is the one who will cross the river ahead of you. He will destroy those nations as you arrive. You will take possession of their land. Joshua will also cross the river ahead of you, as Jehovah told you. Jehovah will destroy those people, just as he defeated Sihon and Og, kings of the Amorites, and destroyed their country. Jehovah will give you victory over them. You are to treat them exactly as I have told you.

Jehovah gave this command to Joshua, son of Nun: Be strong and courageous, because you will bring the Israelites into the land that I swore to give them, and I will be with you.
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all the people of Israel: Be determined and with good courage. You are the one who will lead these people to occupy the land Jehovah promised to their ancestors.
Jehovah said to Moses: Take Joshua son of Nun, a capable man, and place your hands on his head. Have him stand in front of Eleazar the priest and the entire congregation, and there before them all proclaim him as your successor. Your assistant Joshua son of Nun will go there. He will lead the people into the land. Encourage him to go there.
Joshua will lead Israel across the Jordan to take the land. So help him. Encourage him and strengthen him. Tell him what he must do.'
Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. The sons of Israel listened to him and did as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
