We who believe enter into the rest. As God said: I swore in my anger: 'They shall not enter into my rest.' Yet God's works were completed from the foundation of the world. Somewhere God said this about the seventh day: God rested on the seventh day from all his works.

By the seventh day God had finished his work. He rested from all his work on the seventh day. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. This is because he rested from all the work of creation he had done.

If Joshua had given them rest, he [God] would not have spoken afterwards about another day.

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all the people of Israel: Be determined and with good courage. You are the one who will lead these people to occupy the land Jehovah promised to their ancestors.

Jehovah your God has given the other Israelites peace as he promised. So go back home to the land you claimed for your own, the land on the east side of the Jordan, that Moses, Jehovah's servant, gave you.

For forty years I was grieved with this generation. I said: It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways. I swore to them in my anger that they should not enter into my rest.

There remains then a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

I am hard pressed between the two. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ for it is far better.

We that are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so will we ever be with the Lord. Comfort one another with these words.

You have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled (defiled) their garments. They will walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Because of this they are before the throne of God. They serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tent over (dwell among) them.

We are of good courage, I say, and are willing to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.

His lord said: 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful over a few things. I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

People will come from east, west, north and south and sit down at the feast in the Kingdom of God.

The Lamb who is in the middle of the throne will feed them and lead them to living fountains of water. God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.

You make the path of life known to me. Complete joy is in your presence. It is pleasant to be at your right hand forever.

I will see your face (be in your presence) when I am declared righteous. When I wake up, I will be satisfied to see (perceive) (comprehend) you.

The man took me back to the door of the Temple. I saw water flowing from under the entrance of the Temple toward the east. The Temple faced east. The water was flowing under the south side of the Temple, south of the altar. Then he led me through the north gate and around to the outer east gate. The water was flowing down the south side of the gate. With a measuring line in his hand, the man went eastward. He measured off fifteen hundred feet and led me through the water. The water came up to my waist. He measured another fifteen hundred feet. But the water had risen so much that it became a river that I could not cross. The river was too deep to cross except by swimming. He asked me: Son of man, do you see this? The man then led me back along the bank of the river. As I went back, I saw many trees on both sides of the river. He said: This water flows through the land to the east, down into the Jordan Valley, and into the Dead Sea. When the water flows into the Dead Sea, it will replace the salt water there with fresh water. Wherever the river flows, there will be many fish and animals. The river will make the water in the Dead Sea fresh. Wherever the river flows, it will bring life. From En Gedi to En Eglaim people will be standing on the shore of the sea with their fishing nets spread out. As many kinds of fish will be there as there are in the Mediterranean Sea. But the water in the swamps and marshes will not become fresh. It will remain salty. All kinds of fruit trees will grow on both sides of the river. Their leaves will not wither, and they will not fail to produce fruit. Each month they will produce fresh fruit because this water flows from the Holy Place. The fruit will be good food, and the leaves will be used for healing.

He showed me a pure river of water of life. It was clear as crystal and flowed out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. This was in the middle of the street of the city. The tree of life was on each side of the river. It produced twelve kinds of fruit and yielded the fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

It is a righteous thing for God to repay with affliction (great suffering and distress) those who afflict you. You who are afflicted rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire.

They cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord, holy and true, before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? Each of them was given a white robe. They were told that they should rest for a little while. [They were to wait] until the [number] of their fellow servants and their brothers, who would be killed, as they were, should be fulfilled.

I said to him: Sir, you know. He said to me: These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are at rest.

He will enter into peace. The honorable and honest will rest in his bed.

No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people. My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune. For they will be a people blessed by Jehovah, they and their descendants with them.

While the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear that one of you might come up short and not enter. Indeed, we have had good news presented to us. They also had it. But the word that was heard did not benefit them because they were not united in faith by what was heard. We who believe enter into the rest. Somewhere God said this about the seventh day: God rested on the seventh day from all his works. Again: They shall not enter into my rest. It remains for some to enter into it. Those who first received the good news did not enter in because they did not obey and lacked faith. He determines a certain day by saying through David: Today, after so long a time; just as it was said before, Today, if you will listen to his voice, do not harden your hearts. (Psalm 95:7) If Joshua had given them rest, he [God] would not have spoken afterwards about another day. There remains then a Sabbath rest for the people of God. He who enters into his rest also rests from his own works, just as God did from his. Let us do our utmost to enter into that rest. Let no one fall into the same pattern of disobedience by not obeying the word.

God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow nor crying. There will be no more pain! The former things have passed away.

He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will take away the disgrace of His people from the earth. Jehovah has spoken!

I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people. The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.

They cannot die anymore for they are equal to the angels. They are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

We also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption and the release from our bodies by ransom.

In the end Christ will deliver the kingdom to God the Father. Christ will destroy every ruler and all authority and all power.

They will hunger no more, nor thirst any more; neither shall the sunlight beat down on them, nor any heat. The Lamb who is in the middle of the throne will feed them and lead them to living fountains of water. God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.

The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the bull, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on my entire holy mountain, Jehovah proclaims.

The wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the well-fed animal together. A little boy will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze. Their young will lie down together. And the lion will eat straw like the ox. The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra. They will not hurt or destroy in my entire holy mountain. This is because the earth will be full of the knowledge of Jehovah just as the waters cover the sea.

At that time I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground. I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them lie down in safety.

There will be no curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city. His servants will serve him.

Let us do our utmost to enter into that rest. Let no one fall into the same pattern of disobedience by not obeying the word.
