Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
Duty toward the Afflicted » To pray for them
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Duty toward the Afflicted » To protect them
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
Duty toward the Afflicted » To sympathize with them
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Duty toward the Afflicted » To bear them in mind
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
Duty toward the Afflicted » To relieve them
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
Duty toward the Afflicted » To visit them
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
