And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good witness of all the Jews who dwelt there,

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man and one that fears God and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee.

Then the princes of the Philistines went forth, and it came to pass after they went forth that David behaved himself more prudently than all the slaves of Saul so that his name was much set by.

Everyone gives testimony of Demetrius, even the truth itself; and we also bear witness, and ye have known that our witness is true.

Now when each maid's turn was come to go in to King Ahasuerus, after she had been twelve months according to the law regarding the women (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, that is, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with aromatic odours and oils for women),

Because of the savour of thy good ointments (ointment poured forth is thy name), therefore have the virgins loved thee.

How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!

that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments, but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

And Hezekiah hearkened unto them and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold and the spices and the precious ointment and all the house of his weapons and all that was found in his treasury; there was nothing in his house nor in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.

Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: likewise a small act of folly unto him that is esteemed for wisdom and honour.

And he being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, sitting at the table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and breaking the alabaster, she poured it over his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarius and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who should betray him, Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarius and given to the poor?

Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.

Better is the poor that walks in his perfection than he that is perverse in his ways, though he is rich.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the rights of the LORD are true, they are all just. More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy slave, O LORD, according unto thy word, which teaches me discernment and knowledge, for I have believed thy commandments. Before I was humbled, I went into error, but now I keep thy spoken word. read more.
Thou art good and doest good; teach me thy statutes. The proud have forged a lie against me, but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart. Their heart became fat like grease, but I delight in thy law. It was good for me that I have been humbled, that I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than precious stones; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I invent the knowledge of giving counsel. read more.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate. With me is counsel, and existence; I am understanding; strength belongs to me. By me the kings reign, and the princes decree justice. By me the princes rule, and all of the governors judge the earth. I love those that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than precious stones, and my revenue than choice silver.
