You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
