Even then, I looked on them with compassion and didn't completely destroy them in the wilderness.

I defer my anger for my name's sake, and as my first act I'm restraining it for you, so as not to cut you off.
Now if God wants to demonstrate his wrath and reveal his power, can't he be extremely patient with the objects of his wrath that are made for destruction?

The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some people understand slowness, but is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to repent.
