He said the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be impaled, and the third day rise again. They remembered his words. When they returned from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. They were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them. They told these things to the apostles.

He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth. Then he laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.

A great crowd of people followed. Many women cried and grieved over him. Jesus turned to them and said: Daughters of Jerusalem do not weep for me but weep for yourselves and for your children.
