God is a righteous judge, a God who is angry with sinners every day.
So it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."
Boastful ones will not stand before you; you hate all those who practice wickedness. You will destroy those who speak lies. The LORD abhors the person of bloodshed and deceit.
But God wasn't pleased with most of those people, and so they were struck down in the wilderness.
