But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
And your servant my father said unto us, You know that my wife bore me two sons: And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since: And if you take this also from me, and mischief befall him, you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
O daughter of my people, gird yourself with sackcloth, and roll yourself about in ashes: make yourself mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.
Thus says the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
