And you, who pose as a judge of those who practice such sins and yet continue doing the same yourself, do you for once suppose that you are going to escape the judgment of God? Verse ConceptsFalse ConfidenceCondemnation Of The WickedEscaping From GodJudgmentsJudgementJudging Others Actionspractice

for you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the Lord is coming like a thief in the night. When people say, "Such peace and security!" then suddenly destruction falls upon them, like birth pains upon a woman who is about to become a mother, but they shall not escape, no, not at all.

For if the message spoken through angels proved to be valid, and every violation and infraction of it had its adequate penalty, how can we escape, if we pay no attention at all to a salvation that is so great? This is so because it was first proclaimed by the Lord Himself, and then it was proved to us to be valid by the very men who heard Him themselves,

See to it that you do not refuse to listen to Him who is speaking to you. For if they did not escape, because they refused to listen to him who warned them here on earth, how much less can we, if we reject Him who is from heaven? Then His voice shook the earth,

The kings of the earth, the great men, the military leaders, the rich, the mighty -- everybody, whether slaves or free hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they said to the mountains and the rocks: "Fall on us and conceal us from the sight of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb, because the great day of their anger has come, and who can stand it?"

"But in those days, after that misery, the sun will turn dark, the moon will not shed its light, the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers of the sky will be shaken.

And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on earth despair of nations in bewilderment at the roaring of the sea and its waves, men fainting with fear and apprehension of the things that are to come upon the world, for the powers of the sky will be shaken.

But you have come to Mount Zion, even to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless hosts of angels, to the festal gathering and assembly of God's firstborn sons enrolled as citizens in heaven, to a Judge who is the God of all, to the spirits of upright men who have attained perfection, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks a better message than even Abel's did. read more.

For if they did not escape, because they refused to listen to him who warned them here on earth, how much less can we, if we reject Him who is from heaven? Then His voice shook the earth, but now His promise is, "Once more I will make not only the earth but heaven itself tremble." Now that expression, "Once more," signifies the final removal of the things that can be shaken, to let remain the things that cannot be shaken.

I will make him who conquers a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall never again go out of it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. And I saw the new Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride to join her husband. Then I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "See! God's dwelling place is with men, and He will live with them, read more.
and He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no death any longer, no sorrow, no crying, no pain. The first order of things has passed away." Then He who was seated on the throne said, "See! I am making everything new." He continued, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Tell me, you who want to be subject to law, will you not listen to what the law says? For the Scripture says that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave girl, the other by a free woman. But the child of the slave girl was born in the ordinary course of nature, while the child of the free woman was born to fulfill the promise. read more.
This is spoken as an allegory. For these women are two covenants, one coming from Mount Sinai, bearing children that are to be slaves; that is, Hagar (and Hagar means Mount Sinai, in Arabia) and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for Jerusalem is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
