And they truly were many priests, because they were hindered by death from continuing. But this, because he continueth for ever, hath a priesthood that passeth not away. Wherefore he is able also, to save them to the uttermost who come to God thro' him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens: Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, then for those of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests that have infirmity; but the word of the oath which was since the law, maketh the son, who is consecrated for evermore.
