For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. For John said to him: It is not lawful for you to have her.

For Herod himself had sent and taken John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip; for he had married her. For John said to Herod: It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.
