But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into the houses one after another, and dragging off both men and women delivered them up to prison.
They then who had been scattered abroad through the tribulation that took place on the occasion of Stephen, passed through the country to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one but to Jews alone. in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound.
At my first defence no man stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be imputed to them. But the Lord stood with me, and gave me power, that through me the proclamation might be fully made, and all those of the nations should hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth.
