Thematic Bible: Indissoluble during the joint lives of the parties
Thematic Bible
Marriage » Indissoluble during the joint lives of the parties
For the woman who is subject to a husband is obligated to the law so long as the husband lives; but if the husband dies, she is free from the law of the husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she belongs to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law so that she is no adulteress if she belongs to another man.
Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free and may be married to whom she will, if it is in the Lord.
