for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
saying: "The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses; therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.
And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
And His disciples asked Him, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
