A grievous vision is declared to me. The treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam. Besiege, O Media, all the sighing of it I have made to cease.
Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east. He calls him to his foot? He gives nations before him, and makes him rule over kings. He gives them as the dust to his sword, as the driven stubble to his bow.
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways. He shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward, says LORD of hosts.
Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear: Who among them has declared these things? He whom LORD loves shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm, the Chaldeans. I, even I, have spoken, yea, I have called him. I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
