Cities » Afforded refuge in times of danger
Why do we sit still? Gather yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there. For Jehovah our God has put us to silence, and has given us poisonous water to drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah. We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, but behold, trouble! The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his stallions. For they have come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those who live in it.

who has shown me great and evil distresses; You will turn me; You will make me live. You will turn me from the depths of the earth, You will bring me up.
Man born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
For all his days are sorrows, and his labor sadness; yea, his heart does not take rest in the night. This is also vanity.
but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
The sorrows of death hemmed me in, and the pains of hell took hold on me; I found trouble and sorrow.
