Cities » Afforded refuge in times of danger
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold, trouble! The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they have come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.

Thou, who hast shown me great and severe troubles, wilt revive me again, and wilt bring me again from the depths of the earth.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
For all his days are sorrows, and his labor grief; yes, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.
Yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
The sorrows of death encompassed me, and the pains of hell came upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
