Thematic Bible: Jesus Christ being an example

To this, indeed, you have been called; because even Christ suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his footsteps. He did no sin, nor was guile found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile again; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously.

Jesus said to him: He that has bathed needs nothing else save to wash his feet, but is wholly clean. And you are clean, but not all. For he knew who would deliver him up; for this reason he said, You are not all clean. Therefore, when he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, he reclined at table again, and said to them: Do you understand what I have done for you? read more.
You call me Teacher and Lord; and you say well, for so I am. If, then, I, your Lord and your Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also may do as I have done for you.
