All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and without a parable he did not speak to them; that the word might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things that have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
And with many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear. But without a parable he did not speak to them; but when alone, he explained all things to his disciples.
